Making new units

The basic unit has one in all abilities and statistics and costs one point.

It costs one resource point to improve two abilities or statistics by one. Starting at rank five, it costs one point just to improve that ability. Starting at rank three, it costs one point just to improve that statistic.

Specials cost one resource point. Name your specials something cool!

Example: Khalean Guerillas

  • Attack 3
  • Defend 2
  • React 5
  • Move 3
  • Vitality 3

Guerillas: Bonus die defending in woods.

Cost: 8

Example: Ammenite Light Infantry

  • Attack 3
  • Defend 2
  • React 3
  • Move 5
  • Vitality 2

Cost: 7

Making new heroes

Heroes start with one point in each pool. It costs one resource to improve a pool. Starting at five, it costs two points to improve a pool.

It costs one point to gain a secret for your hero.

Actually creating the physical units

Shadow Wars uses 16mm cubes for its playing pieces. This is the size of normal dice, so you can use those, or order blanks. I use sticky labels over Fudge dice to make mine. The "/" indicates the unit is bloodied. The "X" indicates it is broken.
